With a multi-activity break you can choose from a whole host of pursuits including pony trekking, archery, kayaking, climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, caving, canyoning and more. We have activity breaks specifically for families who want to enjoy an alternative holiday together, and with packages to suit all age groups and abilities you’ll be sure to find something to get your heart racing and your muscles pumping.

For those who prefer a more active approach to their leisure time this is a packed weekend of different and contrasting outdoor activities. All activities are pitched at a challenging yet accessible level to ensure that they are suitable for anyone regardless of age, fitness or experience. Your qualified and experienced instructors will not only help to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience but point you in the right direction if you wish to take any activities further.

What you need to bring
Outdoor clothing – synthetics (eg fleece) are best and many layers preferable
(clothing should not restrict movement – bring plenty of spares!)
Waterproof Jacket and trousers
Night wear and wash kit and towel(s)
Outdoor footwear (trainers are adequate)
Small rucksack eg 30 litres
Flask/bottle
Small first aid kit

All activities/locations are comprehensively risk assessed and will be led by appropriately qualified instructors.
What is included in the price?
• Full board accommodation commencing with Breakfast on Saturday and finishing with lunch on Sunday
• A full programme of instruction delivered by our qualified and experienced instructors
• All transport required during the course (trains are met between 16:00 & 20:00 hours)

Summer Holiday Activities at Ilam Hall

Throughout the summer holidays, Ilam Hall is offering fun activities for all the family. With afternoon and evening times available, there is an activity that is bound to take your interest and keep you smiling for the rest of your stay with YHA.
Family Challenge- Grab your family for an afternoon of fun!! Is your family the brainiest, the strongest or the fastest? This activity includes family favourites such as Tug of War and an obstacle course. The family with the most points will win a prize and have their name on our Wall of Fame!
Orienteering- How well can you read a map? Families are given a map and score sheet for Ilam's British Orienteering Federation standard course. The fastest team to complete the course wins. Prize for the winning family!
Treasure Hunt- Answer questions and follow the clues around Ilam's impressive grounds and village. Prize for the family with the most points!
Circus Skills- Participate in a juggling lesson and try out a variety of circus skills including tight rope walking, poi spinning and the unicycle.
Rockets- Send a fragile space man into orbit! You are required to build a rocket using a selection of household items. How high can you send your space man and will he return safely to earth? Prizes awarded for brains and brawn!
Geckos - A great craft activity for the whole family. A YHA staff member will guide you through making a beaded gecko (other animals available). Brilliant for calming down excited children before bed. Under 11's require adult supervision.
Pet Rocks - We have all sorts of decorations you can use to make your very own pet rock! Under 11's require adult supervision.
Family Quiz - How much does your family know about TV, sports, celebrities and the Peak District National Park? Start swatting up now for this hour-long quiz for the whole family. Great prizes!

There is a vast range of fun activities to experience at Rookin House Activity Centre. From horse riding to quad biking, archery to human bowling, there is something that will please everyone here. With kids activities and even packages for families as well as hen and stag do’s, Rookin House Activity Centre offers everything you could wish for to unleash your adventurous side.

Wizard Walks in Pembrokeshire
Broad Haven
Enjoy a CD audio tour of the county, bringing alive the myths, legends and history of the area. Five quests take you on five walks to solve riddles using the maps and directions in the guide book. Fun for all the family and suitable for children from 4-12 years it is entertaining, fun and stimulates interest and awareness in wildlife and the countryside.
Quest 1: Journey to the Saintly Peninsular - St David's and find a secret sign
Quest 2: Listen to the battle of witchcraft and wizardry on Garn Fawr at Strumble Head
Quest 3: See the magic stones of Pentre Ifan near Newport and answer the Druids riddle
Quest 4: Visit the enchanted castle of Carew and discover its ghosts
Quest 5: Take a boat to Skomer Island and see the amazing seabirds
If you complete all five quests you can try your hand at the CD-ROM quiz included in the pack. If you solve all the riddles correctly you will be awarded with the Pembrokeshire Wizard's Certificate of Merit.
